I’m learning programming (web and software) in school but I’ve also had security classes, networking classes, OS classes, encryption classes. Could you guys give me ideas of the types of jobs I could look for? I wanted to be a programmer initially but now I’m not sure with the economy and all whether I’ll be able to find a programming job, so I decided I will broaden my horizons and look for something computer-related that interests me. Thanks.

My husband is NOT a programmer. He’s been out of work as much has he has worked over the past three years.

I would say you should be able to find work in 6 mos or less without much trouble, even in this current economy. Yes, you could find work as a systems analyst. Do yourself a favor and LOOK at http://www.monster.com/

for your region and SEE what current jobs are listed in IT/professional and you’ll have an idea of which way you should "steer" your resume. My BEST advice is 1) to make more than one resume (one for programming and another for analyst or other position you try to obtain) 2)EDIT your resume on Monster once per week (that way it appears "fresh in their system and you won’t be at the "bottom" of the list)

Currently my husband is employed but looking…since his company is unstable to remain at during this economy.
