I came across an ad for a car dealership in my area that says they have a $3000 signing bonus and I’m not sure exactly what they mean.

Does that mean if they hire you they give you three thousand dollars after you join them? Are there any terms on it like on how many cars you have to sell or else you pay it back?

3 grand for being hired. There is always conditions though.

Thinking about xerox, any other good ideas? My goal is to have full benefits, decent base pay, and obviously realistic potential to earn a lot in commission. Solid sales training is important, as well…. I am a finance major

The larger companies are generally downsizing, as are pharmaceuticals and other industries with the best salaries and benefits. However, check with your university regarding which companies recruit at your campus–that is the best way to get an edge. Next, talk to professors you have gotten to know and ask them for ideas. Also, tap the alumni network, especially for business–that is always a good place to go. Don’t forget the service industry–there are lots of jobs selling services (including many for what are considered manufacturing companies). Just for research, look at jobs on Monster et al for where the jobs seem to be (even if for more experienced people).

There are more pharmacist jobs going round than pharmacists, an excellent scenario for job seekers. So how do you tap into this job market?

Different Kinds of Pharmacist Jobs

Pharmacists are needed wherever medicines are prepared or dispensed. Even storage of medicines should be under their supervision. The pharmacist is trained to dispense the correct dosages of medicines meeting the correct standards of purity. Non-pharmacists can make incorrect decisions on these matters, leading to serious health consequences, including danger to life.

So who stores, prepares and dispenses medicines?

  • Retail Chemists selling prescription and over the counter drugs to the public
  • Hospitals and Clinics dispensing medicines to their patients
  • Healthcare and infusion facilities providing medication services at home or nursing homes
  • Government and community centers offering healthcare and medication services
  • Armed services that have their own medical departments and services

All the above establishments will thus need the services of qualified pharmacists.

Pharmacists are also needed to research and develop drugs for pharmaceutical companies, and in their sales and marketing departments. Thus the pharmaceutical manufacturers are a major employer of pharmacists.

Pharmacists work as retail pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, IV pharmacists, pharmacy managers, drug research scientists and so on. When dealing with the public, they have to be more than just medicine dispensers. They have to provide advice on the correct usage of the medicines. They might also be called upon to consult with healthcare professionals. Pharmacists thus need an ethical attitude and good communications skills in addition to technical know-how.

How Do You Become a Pharmacist?

It requires years of training to become a licensed pharmacist.

You start with about two years of study at college level in chemistry, biology, physics and other science subjects. Even after this study, you might be required to take a Pharmacy Colleges Admissions Test before you are accepted into a college of pharmacy.

Pharmacy colleges typically offer 6 year and 5 year curriculum equipping the pharmacist in formulating, preparing and dispensing medicines, as well as in other areas such as professional ethics, communicating with patients and healthcare professionals and managing a pharmacy practice.

Before obtaining the license to practice, the pharmacist will also have to undergo internship under a licensed pharmacist, and pass a state examination.

Becoming a pharmacist is thus a painstaking process, and it is no wonder that there are more pharmacist jobs going round than pharmacists seeking jobs!

The pharmacist jobs also require you to be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Illnesses requiring medication do not go home after “duty hours” (much as we might wish them to do)!

The Pharmacist

Pharmacists are trusted persons whom patients and healthcare professionals consult. They have access to confidential information about patients. Naturally, they need to be persons who can be trusted to behave ethically and considerately.

If you meet the bill, pharmacist jobs will come looking for you!

When preparing this article I came across this anonymous quote:
“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It know it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a lion or a gazelle…when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.”
I think I’ve seen it before, but considering where we are in the RV business today it seemed to fit.
So, what about this “money lying in the streets of the RV business”? Well, it comes from my personal observations in travelling the country training RV sales people and managers over the last 4 years. Some of us just “aren’t running when the sun comes up”. At the end of every class, I ask everyone what they got of training today. There usually is always one who says, “I realized today that I need to work harder”. Eureka! (I found it!).
This isn’t that hard if….if we step back and take an objective look at what we do everyday. The actual actions that we take, realizing that high quality action produces high quality results.

How to have a 13 and 1/2 month year.

If your year was longer would you make more money year to date? Of course. Short of discovering time travel, where can you pick up more time? Several weeks ago I told you we all wake up with the same thing; 1440 minutes that look us in the eye and say “What are you going to do with me?” The reality of the RV business, at least for salespeople, is that most of us only work 2-3 hours per day, tops. I know because that’s what I did when I was on the line. You may be the exception, however, I work with a lot of salespeople across the country and it isn’t any different no matter where you are. So what do you do with the other 6-8 hours per day? Would you be willing to accept a raise in income in exchange for some of that down time? Just work 1 more hour per day. That’s it. Don’t ADD it to your day, just WORK another hour of that 6-8 you don’t do anything. Why is that such a big deal? Just do the math.

1 hour per day of productive work x 5 days a week = 5 hours per week.
5 hours per week x 4 weeks a month = 20 hours per month.
20 hours per month x 12 months per year = 240 hours per year.
240 hours / 40 hours a week = 6 weeks.
6 weeks of productivity every year. Let that sink in a minute…..
That’s how you get 13 1/2 months out of a year.

Why is this so important? Look at what we actually do in RV sales today.
If we’re actually working 3 hours a day x 5 days a week = 15 hours per week.
15 hours x 4 weeks x 12 months = 720 hours per year.
Actual “full time” jobs = 2000 hours per year.
Yes, I know you probably work longer on weekends and when you have good floor traffic, but take your actual working with a fresh up out of the equation and you will understand what I’m talking about. It’s the rest of our time we need to look at.
If you show me what you do with your “spare” time in the RV business, I’ll show you what you’re going to make next year.

You see sometimes it’s not what you’re doing, it’s what your not doing. I know from first hand experience that it is easy to do nothing in RV sales or any type of commission sales. Remember that pain/pleasure thing we talked about last time? It applies here in a huge way because it affects your income and your ability to take care of yourself and your family.
Bottom line, work harder. This takes Self-Discipline, one of the 35 keys to being a Top Producer in the RV business. It also takes a daily written plan of action, another key. It takes alot of things we teach in our RV sales training classes.
You’ve heard, “The harder I work, the luckier I get”.
LUCK = Laboring Under Correct Knowledge. With emphasis on laboring.

When you can you start with your new found productivity? How about right now?
How about 20 minutes on product knowledge, 20 minutes on selling skills and 20 minutes on a positive mental attitude. Mix it up depending on your experience level. Do part of it yourself, and get your teammates involved in part of it.
Is there any reason you can’t WORK another hour today?
You don’t have to come in earlier, or stay later. Just come to work to work.
If you throw 240 hours of focused effort at anything, you will improve and get results. You will feel better, make more, which will make you feel better, which will make you more…. you get the picture.
Unlike many other sales trainers out there today, I spent many years on the line selling RV’s. I felt best and made more when I was busy doing something.

Just Sell On Purpose and like the lion in Africa, wake up tomorrow, kill something, and eat it.

I need names of legitimate companies. Basically, what I want are jobs that require you to sell a product. Can be anything, as long as it isn’t a scam.

Creative Memories, Stampin Up, Passion Parties (adult toys), Scentsy (wickless candles).

Most of those require a start-up "fee" that usually pays for the first round of supplies and training material.

You have to put out a lot of your own money for advertising, products, parties, etc and then when you sell the products you keep a percentage and pay the rest to the company.

If you can sell a lot of products you can make decent money. You’d have to work pretty hard to make enough to really live on, and you could possibly end up paying more than you take in.

With Avon and Mary Kay you have to buy products and use them, have testers, and have knowledge of the products that you can demonstrate.

For creative memories and stampin up you have to buy products to make sample cards to advertise the materials.

You need business cards, flyers, you have to go door to door, get your friends involved..and trust me, nothing is more annoying than when my friends pester me to come to their scentsy party (I’m a military wife and scentsy and passion parties are like gold to some of them).

I wouldn’t say they’re scams per say, and they’re certainly more legit than Amway or Market America, but you’re essentially starting your own business and that requires a cost and time output before you even start seeing much of any income.
