How to Make More Email Sales From Your Mailing List

You have built your mailing list and you regularly mail to your subscribers, but if you’d like to improve the amount of sales you make from your emails than this article should help you. Hopefully you’re sending out your emails regularly. Just how regularly you need to decide but I usually favour once a week. The reason why I like to mail people every week is based on experience. I used to email people every month but obviously in that time people are so busy that they forget who you are. If you email every week you will be able to build up a relationship with your readers.

So what can you do to increase the sales you make from your emails?

Firstly, try to write in a friendly way using very conversational language. Try not to use technical terms or difficult to understand sentences. Keep everything brief and to the point. Imagine that you’re chatting to a friend, this is the way you want to write.

If possible, address your reader with the first name. To do this you need to capture the first name in your autoresponder form and use it at the start of every email. This will make your message more personal.

It is a proven fact that repeating the word “you” over and over again in your messages will also make your messages more personal and build that special relationship between you and the reader.

One of the most important things you can do to increase the power of your emails and boost your email sales is to avoid marketing directly. First you should always have as your aim to address the needs of your reader and try to solve the problems that he or she may have. You should offer information which is free and high quality. What you need to understand here is that you should be giving first and not trying to take. If you give lots of answers, lots of high quality information which is useful and valuable to your reader you will be rewarded with more sales in the end.

Another reason why you need to provide lots of quality information and answers to the problems that your readers are searching for is that you want to appear to be an expert in your subject area. If your reader believes you to be an expert then they will come to trust you and follow any recommendations that you make regarding products or suggested links that they should follow. It’s all about building up credibility.

If you’ve done your job well your reader will take your information, trust you and will follow your recommendations and suggestions will value the advice and tips that you give them and look forward to your next email. Whenever you place the link in your message back to your website you will have a much higher chance of attracting that visitor back to your website.

In fact the job of your emails is not to make sales but to attract your reader back to your website where your pages should be designed to provide information that your reader is looking for and also to recommend products to him which he can buy from you.

Finally you need to make sure that the maximum number of your readers can actually open and read your messages. Make sure that your messages are delivered in plain text and not HTML format. The reason for this is messages delivered in HTML format look great but get displayed in all kinds of strange ways according to which email program your reader is using. Also many readers choose to receive only plain text emails and will not be able to view your HTML emails anyway.
